Caving

I was introduced to the muddy delights of potholing at Leicester Polytechnic many moons ago, My memorys of student life always seem to involve groveling about in some dark damp hole in the middle of the Yorkshire Moors or splashing down a streamway under South Wales. Mondays were spent battered bruised and tired from the weekend, The middle of the week was cleaning gear and the end of the week was all about going underground at the weekend.

Age and responsibility has tempered my urges to delve into the bowels of the earth on a regular basis, but there is a carbide lamp and battered dry suit in the shed just in case the urge strikes.

The trip to Yorkshire that started it all -> more

Some crawling under Yorkshire in a carrot shaped passage -> more

A brush with mortality -> more

Some silly goings on in the search for the black pot series -> more

And suddenly we where involved in a rescue -> more

It's always fun down Cuckcoo Cleaves -> more

A new discovery in Wales -> more

Things to do under Derbyshire -> more

Discovering a taste for Guiness -> more

Pain -> more

A few small holes -> more

Sliding in mud is sometimes not nice -> more

A slip, a slice, game over -> more

And then there was this hole -> more

From Otter Hole to the Berger -> more

And then it all ended -> more
